Lesson 6:

The Wildcard *

Start

The wildcard symbol, the asterisk, is the last strategy in this unit on understanding and harnessing the power of search engines.

When using wildcards you allow the search engine to look for multiple spelling of the same common root word. This is especially helpful for words that have varied spellings based on country (UK vs. US). By doing so you ensure a thorough search of all possible web pages containing similar spellings of the same root word.
